Local Scholarships

The Makefield Branch of AAUW has a long tradition of awarding academic scholarships to young women in our community. The awards support the AAUW commitment to equity for girls and women and lifelong learning. In 2010 the Branch will fund two types of award.

Graduating High School Seniors
Scholarships of $500 will be awarded to two young women who will graduate high school in 2010 and plan to attend a four-year college or university. Students must be attending either Council Rock North, Council Rock South, Morrisville, Neshaminy, or Pennsbury High School.

Nominations for the 2010 scholarships will be accepted from the high school guidance departments, who will have additional eligibility information and application materials in February 2010.

Application materials must be received no later than April 9, 2010. Nominees will be notified of committee decisions in late April and will receive their awards at the Branch's Girls' Recognition Reception on the evening of Monday, May 10, 2010. Interested students should speak with their guidance counselor.

Rheta Pinsky Scholarship
This $500 scholarship is funded by donations in honor of Rheta Pinsky, a long-term member of the Makefield Branch of AAUW. In the spring of 2010 this scholarship will be awarded to a mature, returning student entering her second year at Bucks County Community College (BCCC). Nominations for this 2010 scholarship will be accepted from the Financial Aid office at BCCC. Interested students should speak to the BCCC Financial Aid office for further information regarding eligibility, application materials, and deadlines.
