Local Scholarships

In 2008 the Makefield Branch of AAUW will award three $500 scholarships to young women who are high school seniors from Morrisville, Pennsbury, Neshaminy, Council Rock North, or Council Rock South High Schools. Applicants must be planning to pursue a four year
college/university degree in any field of study. The
awards support the AAUW commitment to equity for
girls and women and lifelong learning.

Two awards are Makefield Branch AAUW Scholarships, funded through the Branch’s Fund-Raising Committee.
Our third scholarship is the Miriam F. Nachman Scholarship, awarded in recognition of this active AAUW Life Member's six decades of committed support for girls’ and women's pursuit of lifelong and higher education, and in honor of her eightieth birthday. Ms. Nachman's honesty and intellect continue to inspire her family, friends, and community. The award is offered by the Yardley-Lower Makefield AAUW branch through the generosity of her four children.

Nominations for the three scholarships will be accepted from the high school’s guidance department. Nominees will be notified of committee decisions in mid-May, and the scholarships will be awarded at our annual Scholarship Brunch, scheduled for June 14, 2008.
